Ayanna Serves as the Chair of the Committee on Women & Healthy Communities, as well as Vice-Chair of the Public Safety and Arts, Film, Humanities & Tourism Committees.
After only 16 months in office, Ayanna Pressley has already established a strong record of accomplishments:
· Passed legislation to strengthen the Boston Resident Jobs Policy to ensure Boston residents, including people of color and women, are hired for construction and development projects in the city
· Fought successfully to save branch libraries and jobs
· Led efforts to address issues uniquely impacting girls and women including teen pregnancy, human trafficking, sexual assault, and employment equity
· Held a Family Voices hearing that led to changes in how law enforcement, legal and medical personnel operate in the aftermath of a homicide
· Demanded an investigation into the discrimination of black guests guests at a downtown Boston Club that led to a $30,000 fine and put every venue in the city on notice that there would be serious consequences for discriminatory business practices
